Megumi Shauna Arai

Megumi is half Japanese and Jewish and grew up between the Pacific Northwest and Tokyo. She creates imagery about closeness and farness, boundaries and lack there of. She is interested in biracial identity, intimacy, confinement, freedom, imperfection, perfection, impermanence and the soft underbelly people rarely show. She strives to create work that strips away the walls we use to protect ourselves.
